the right word

couldn’t find it
never spoke
brain succumbed
to a major stroke
now we’re waiting
sounds absurd
any word uttered is
the right word

Puddles on floor

Snow off boots
trickles down
glaciers waiting
dropping into town
smiles reluctant
cliches slow
cautious glance
is the way to go
look to the floor
instead of talking
keep it inside
’til it’s time for walking
wait for the chance
the end is ahead
you missed your dance
and now you’re dead.

Waiting room blues

Desperation dries
on the floor
out of eyes
thoughts
fears
out of coughs
into ears

Names are called
someone else
shuffling bodies
dance propelled
by a wound
nothing soon

This heals fear
nurse’s smile
dear come inside
you’ve been here
for a while
