garrison Ohare

Getting out
(exit)
is easier than getting in
(enter)

Of course
you try to get in
(enter)
to the plane
to get out
(exit)
of the country

They want your shoes and anything
you might be thinking even this
or worse:
that

So don’t think
that
or tasers will
stop
all
(exit)

garrison bare

Shower’s flicking hot fingers
tattoo taut skin
brisk water whips
flay pouching flesh

The wigged guy in the dress
with the filleting knife
would flay with his eyes
shove the shower curtain aside
and stab in, Mother

Is there a hole in the wall
a camera in a corner
do we expect to be observed?

Robe off
cool air kisses skin’s sins
tap turns
water gushes sprays
bend to test this
step in

Dance with the water partner
sing the silly shower song
sing to ’em bare assed
don’t be embarrassed
and you’ll never sing alone

The group gathered around the monitor
half watches, waits for a stray word
a commitment, an admission
a piece of evidence
for presentation to
the kangaroo.

garrison bear

Outside the tent
an irregular huffing
stumbling
a tin can clatters

Gleaming SUV turns
onto a grunting staring street
nobody looks
everyone watches

The bear is just looking
one who looks
might see

A dog scurries out of
a doorless chassis on its axels
chases a drifting sheet of newspaper

Huge black nose snuffles
the tent flap
stops
listens to my silent heart

SUV turns the corner
disappears
