driver
two one way streets meet
I am waiting at a red light
for the intersection to clear
so I can turn left
(legal in Ontario)
my car is beside his SUV
to his left at the corner
he speaks with some feeling to
the cell phone at his ear
the intersection clears
of cross traffic
I proceed with my left turn
he is still talking
evidently sees me go
he goes too
straight through the intersection
and the red light
I wonder how often
his body does that
while his mind
is in another place
