Some say the answer
is at the top of a mountain:
at the peak
lives a wizard
with all the answers
to all the questions.
I tend to feel
more connected to something
at the shore of a river
more exactly
on an island in the middle
where I can watch
passages to and from
the ocean:
pass to the ocean
for a jolt of life;
pass inland for
a place to use it.
As for a mountain
it gives you perspective
you can get nowhere else:
how far down in the valley
we all live.
awesome. the last four lines of the second stanza were my favorite parts. I like it a lot and the many meanings it could have. last stanza, perfect ending..
Thanks, Drew. I’ll probably be writing more on the subject. Every time I go out to British Columbia, I am overwhelmed by the verticals. I am posting photos of the trip in my other blog, Platinum River, at http://platinum-river.blogspot.com/
i like those pics a lot. I especially like (like you said) the contrast of the snow and the flowers in bloom; and then the reflection of the purples in the window over the snow
Yes: I like them too. I have over 200 photos from the trip; I plan to post a bunch, probably two at a time in platinum river over the next week or two. One of the photos I am looking forward to posting is the shot of the “drawbridge” docks at Lost Lake, basis for “Lost Lake”, which I published here a few days ago.
