Family is a special garden:
it rewards the gardener’s song
with beauty, meaning and life.
Roses, raspberries and cabbages,
potatoes, beans and orchids—
family feeds our hearts,
our passions, our hopes.
Family can give us harmony
or its din can drive us crazy:
sometimes it is full of weeds
and other times is Eden.
Even so, when a gift flower
arrives, we rush to fling open
the gates and sing our joy.
