on the edge of sleep
in a moment after evening
in the dust that flickers
in moonbeams that probe still rooms
when the eye unfocuses
and the brain undefends
and the spine unfeels a nudging
and an angel or a spider
is an unobject of contemplation
then it can unbrush by
unraise a ripple of follicle
an unflicker of recognition
an unwhisp of consideration
memory or presence
an unwill other than your own
in a room you occupy alone
