Listen to the day begin
The birds are saying we’re alive
Once again you’re sleeping in
We used to rise as kids arrived
But now we’re living here alone
the kids are gone their separate ways
that teddy bear is still unsewn
and all the toys saw better days
As I am sitting breathing here
and looking at the empty yard
this silence is my secret fear
I’m lonely is an old canard
So I’ll just look at you and know
You’re what I wanted years ago
This is the dream that warms my soul
That we are one: you make me whole.
