The sun was forgotten
\nwhen the boys arrived
\nthe younger fuzzy
\ndraped sleepily over
\nhis father’s shoulder,
\nthe older just antsy
\nfrom the confines
\nof the booster seat.<\/p>\n
Always such journeys
\nend at night with
\nuncertain entry into
\na semi-familiar house
\nfull of strange rules
\nand different food.<\/p>\n
Grandparents have
\ninfinite patience
\nbut it’s limited,
\nstretched by disappointments
\nenriched by surprises:
\na bird is still a bird
\na blank page still needs
\npencil lines and crayons;
\nlove is still unconditional
