Summers, years ago we used to sit with binocs
\nout front of the cottage Sundays and comment
\non topless beauties passing on gleaming white boats;
\nGod I miss those days when he and I would
\nsit on our asses, sipping on Labatt’s Blue
\nthere in the dappled sunlight and feeling
\nlike kings and loving the life we had
\nso much we didn’t even want to cross the river to Dundee.<\/p>\n
As I write this in my basement office
\nsnow is piled around the windows
\nand I know your face is relaxing , cooling
\nas Nana and your children and their children gather
\nin the northern town
\nnear another body of water
\nyou have already crossed.<\/p>\n
You are in my memory locked, Eddie
\nwatching the water
\nin the sunshine
\nunder a deep blue sky.<\/p>\n
