On my way to chorus practice
\nthe first warm spring evening
\nthinking about today’s poem
\nwondering how to do after singing
\nwhat I usually do before breakfast
\nbut just couldn’t do today<\/p>\n
A young woman overtakes and
\npasses me walking fast as I used to
\nshe is so beautiful young perfect
\nan exercise mat tightly rolled across
\nher back like a warriors’ sword
\nauburn hair in a neat tight bun
\nsquared feminine muscled shoulders
\nsway slightly in her black jersey knit
\nlong muscular legs in slim black pants
\nshe could be going off to battle or ballet<\/p>\n
So I wasted my time admiring her
\npulling away down the street
\nwhen I should have been thinking
