I wish I could announce that
\nthe prophecy has been fulfilled
\nbut it was more like a prediction
\na certainty, even<\/p>\n
we all knew the huge banks
\nof snow that preoccupied us
\nwhere I in particular wallowed
\nlabouring interminably
\nwith shovel, scoop, blower and
\nwearing too-warm full winter gear<\/p>\n
all that finally melted away
\nyesterday
\nas we knew it would
\nas we predicted<\/p>\n
at the time it felt like prophecy
\nan impossible dream
\nnow it went almost unnoticed
\nas the last little patch
\non my lawn<\/p>\n
about six feet below
\nthe indomitable summit
