\nin bright cold March sunshine
\nbare pavement rimmed by bulging snowbanks<\/p>\n
we stepped over one opalescent ice stream
\nthat made this patch of concrete treacherous<\/p>\n
The silence was Shakespearian
\nno birds in the bright cold
\nsparse traffic
\nwhy did the final gasp of a shoe store
\nseem like a wake<\/p>\n
Out on the edge of town
\nthe massive Trojan Horse gleams golden
\nfestooned with cheap imported goodies
\nat low low prices<\/p>\n
Soon Jay-Gee will be as empty
\nas the minds of the worshipers
\nof the Trojan horse<\/p>\n
