Recently I have been reminded by the return of <em>Battlestar Galactica<\/em> to TV, that drums are remarkably effective mood instruments\u2014just love those <em>Galactica <\/em>drums! I particularly like the way they use them to overcome the physical fact that there is actually no sound transmitted in space.]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The drums that shook the earth<br \/>\nbefore the battle, sent the warriors<br \/>\nup the ladders over the ramparts<br \/>\nroaring\u2014such is in the heart of a tiger<br \/>\npurring, elephant thunder off in the distance<br \/>\nrumble, heart of a lion.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[ If you try to say this with North American animals, the effect is not the same, as we have not set up our beast with the same images: our animals are more secretive, wily, restrained.
