Trumpet sounds across the jungle
\nwith its own familiar rhythms
\nand the drums are beating harder
\nas they hype the coming values
\nand the men are looking sideways
\nat the women getting horny
\nat the thought of all the action
\nin the aisles of all the hallowed space
\nthey’re hyping in the corridors
\nthey placed along the rivers in the mall<\/p>\n
Leave the caves and join the chorus
\nthat is chanting in the belfry of the
\nplace of worship gleaming with the
\nchromium of values on the altars
\nof the holocaust we offer to the pantheon
\nof circuses and values in the mall<\/p>\n
O the giant cube is waiting as the
\ntyphoon circles closer like a value-rated
\npurchase in the sanctum of sanctorums
\nand the call to prayer is answered by the
\nswooning of the masses as they circle
\npandemonium declaring for the values in the mall<\/p>\n
O the elephants are dying in the
\nforests of the jungle and we
\ncannot ever find them for they
\nleave this place forever taking
\ngolden fleece and ivory and
\nspices from nativity to open spaces waiting
\nin the vaults of someone\u2019s memory
\nand they will not forget it
\n\u2019til they\u2019re gone . . . .<\/p>\n
