\nhis house needs a haircut:
\nBoston Ivy, which covers
\ntwo sides of old red brick,<\/p>\n
starts to encroach on roof,
\nmaking eaves disappear
\nmore or less the way ears
\nhide in an unshorn head.<\/p>\n
For years he had dragged
\nthe old aluminum ladder
\nout of its hidey hole
\nand leaned its extended<\/p>\n
length up into the realm
\nof Jack’s beanstalk’s top
\nin the clouds while his wife
\nstood anxiously ready to catch<\/p>\n
any falling objects: leaves,
\nbits of vine, or him, as they
\nfell to earth. Vine tonsorialism
\nnot being strongly developed skill<\/p>\n
on his side of the family,
\nthey decided, after his
\nthreescore and tenth
\nbirthday, the aquire<\/p>\n
a\u00a0 shiny new hi tech
\nladder that practically
\ncuts vines and harvests
\ngolden eggs and harps<\/p>\n
on its own. So if you see
\na wonderfully shorn
\nred brick home on your
