so different from the garbage dump
\nwith its soft sweet dust and decay
\nso unlike the sleepers of the underpass
\nwe all stand in line for the doors to open<\/p>\n
for the play to start
\nrustling our programs
\nchanging our minds
\nspeaking cleverly
\nsoftly to be overheard
\nby somebody influential
\nwho will turn and say
\ngolly, you’re brilliant!
\nmay I finance you?<\/p>\n
Water trickles perpetually out of nowhere
\ndefying the gravity of the situation with levity
\nwe are overwhelmed by monumentality
\nconcrete and marble trump solid atoms<\/p>\n
I bring my grey head into the theatre
\nready to be enlightened by an hour of thought
\nThen I leave and forget in the face of water
