In March the harbinger wings slowly south,
\nand casts its eerie cry upon the land:
\n“The sun creeps north \u2014 of that there is no doubt;
\nyou must head home and show your winter tan.”<\/p>\n
In answer, snowbirds lift their sun-drenched heads
\nand batten down their southern digs for now;
\nfor they have all grown jaded lying in bed,
\nand wonder if the north is mired in snow.<\/p>\n
So back they drive, where gasoline ain’t cheap,
\nwhere politicians scream in Question Period,
\nthe curling rink, not home, is where one sweeps
\nand hockey is the game that makes us serious.<\/p>\n
So let us make them welcome, everyone:
