Snow peels off winter’s wounds like
\nskin off a blister on a dancer’s heel:
\nthere is a beauty cloaked in ugliness
\nas the old hide releases, baring the
\nfresh inert wounded flesh beneath.<\/p>\n
Old grass from last fall oozes like
\na new lymph-sodden scab, clotting.<\/p>\n
I look at the dirty detritus of winter:
\nold dog turds, greyed dabs of paper
\ncollected layers of wet dust staying
\nas the old rotting snow thaws and leaves
\nthe stinking readyness. Spring is coming.<\/p>\n
