I wonder if the guy who
\ndrove through the stop sign
\nwas more thoughtless than
\nthe guy who parked half
\nin the handicapped space?
\nI saw both of them today
\nafter I spent two hours
\ngetting past the car
\nabandoned in my driveway.<\/p>\n
So it started when I went out
\nto the driveway to start the car
\nand clean off the ice and snow
\nbefore driving the curling fanatic
\nin our household to her game.
\nThere was a car abandoned
\nin the driveway.
\nCouldn’t get around it.
\nShe had to walk and be late.
\nNot a happy camper.<\/p>\n
Called the cops.
\nThey were sympathetic,
\nbut told me while they
\ncould do nothing,
\nI had the right to have
\na trespassing car towed.<\/p>\n
Climbed into the car,
\nwhich was unlocked
\nfound a guy’s resum\u00e9,
\nhe was mainly a young
\nlabourer and concession stand
\njerk \u2014 an appropriate term \u2014
\nalso found a bill for car repairs
\nwith name and phone numbers.<\/p>\n
Long\/short: no answers anywhere.
\nCalled a tow truck who
\nanswered on the fifth try:
\nhe referred me to another guy
\nwho “does that kind of thing”.
\nThe other guy answered
\non the third try
\nwas chatty, and would come
\nafter he looked after
\nseveral calls ahead of me.
\n“Call me if he takes the car
\nbefore I get there, okay?”<\/p>\n
So the jerk got the car
\nwhile I was in the basement.
\nI told the tow guy
\nI wished I had been there to
\nask the jerk why he left his
\ncar blocking my driveway
\nfor three hours. Like,
\nis he mental?<\/p>\n
So I don’t know who’s worse:
\nthe guy running the stop sign
\nthe guy taking the handicapped spot
\nthe jerk in my driveway \u2014
\nor do I mean who’s important
\nenough to join the list of VIPs who
\npark in fire lanes and
\nother no parking zones
\nor skip to the front of lines
\nor push polite suckers aside?<\/p>\n
The day isn’t
\nlong enough;
