It all started
\nwith my sleep apnea;
\nthe doctor prescribed
\na mask, CPAP, by name:<\/p>\n
it has a hose
\nand a purring machine:
\nI sleep more like an alien
\nthan my cat’s ever seen.<\/p>\n
She used to sleep
\nnear, on my pillow, in fact;
\nbut now she’s a stranger:
\na stay-away cat.<\/p>\n
I wonder sometimes
\nif it’s just the purring
\nthat makes her think CPAP
\nis something quite foreign.<\/p>\n
Or maybe it’s jealousy
\nmakes her think
\nit’s a robot that sings
\nas I catch forty winks.<\/p>\n
Whatever the cause
\nit makes me so sad
\nto be scaring my kitty
