To most who live in cold the word means nothing
\nfor where they live there is no glowing heat
\nand if there’s heat it comes to them, impersonal,

For others flame is anger from a gun
\nor bomb or other instrument of death;
\nthe very thought of heat as warm and friendly
\nis laughable as life is, after death.<\/p>\n
Or heat is law or law’s extreme oppression
\nor something else that robs and kills at night;
\nand if you think of rape as heat of passion
\nthen you deserve to freeze alone all night.<\/p>\n
For love and warmth of heart and hearth are such
