In late December
\nwhen the days are dark and the ground is light
\nwe living seek comfort of heat and light

We find solace where we can
\nin a hot meal a warming drink
\na soft embrace a friendly smile
\na shawl a song a communal dance
\ndinner with friends or family
\nand laughter
\nlots of that<\/p>\n
Our planet lives in a cold space
\nbetween Venus and Mars
\nit rotates revolves declines<\/p>\n
If a certain star rises at a certain time in a certain place
\nit is time to climb the pyramid
\nand hear the blood
\nand say the words
\nthat open the unclosing blue eye
