The next few poems speculate about this state of affairs in the snow industry.]<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On certain days<br \/>\nwhen the weather gods<br \/>\nlook a particular way<br \/>\n(in a particular direction,<br \/>\nprobably southwesterlyish)<br \/>\nsnow morphs into the perfect<br \/>\ncompound for making snowballs.<\/p>\n<p>The technical term for this<br \/>\nis unpronouncable<br \/>\nand certainly varies<br \/>\n(depending on whether<br \/>\nyou are<br \/>\nmaking<br \/>\nthrowing<br \/>\nor receiving)<\/p>\n<p>Making a snowball is<br \/>\nan act full of hope<br \/>\nyou are hoping to<br \/>\ntake that guy<br \/>\nor girl<br \/>\ndown a peg<br \/>\nor make that guy<br \/>\nor girl<br \/>\ngive chase<br \/>\nin a gale of giggles<br \/>\nor cool lust<\/p>\n<p>Throwing a snowball<br \/>\nis a test of skill<br \/>\nand hope<br \/>\nyou are hoping<br \/>\nyour skill will<br \/>\nmake you look good<br \/>\nin somebody&#8217;s eyes<br \/>\nit may also be followed<br \/>\nby an act of<br \/>\nextreme nonchalence<\/p>\n<p>Receiving a snowball<br \/>\nis a challenge<br \/>\ndo you give it<br \/>\nthe response it demands<br \/>\nin either skill or giggles or lust or accuracy<br \/>\nor do you fall<br \/>\nto the ground<br \/>\nand die<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[There are quite a few varieities of snow not covered by the list of eleven Inuit words for snow.
