He read the polls, and knew the people’s will;
\nand every choice he made with them in mind:
\nyes this was rule by poll, so what’s the evil?
\nIt’s regnum popularum<\/em>: peace sublime.<\/p>\n

Yet things went strangely wrong in his fair kingdom:
\nfor poverty, disease and crime were raging,
\nin spite of his adherence to the dictum
\nthat by, for, of the people brings flags waving.<\/p>\n

And so he took one poll and then another
\nAnd hoped in polls solutions he would see
\nBut asking polls was like asking your mother
\nIf she would rather diamonds or old cheese.<\/p>\n

For asking polls as much as one is able
