My mulching mower chops up
\nleaves the fragments of leaves
\npopped, pounded pushed
\ninto the remains of the lawn.<\/p>\n
It leaves shreds of leaves like
\nyellow irregular confetti ripped
\nout of the trees and ready
\nfor an autumn of dissipation.<\/p>\n
Each day the trees gift me an
\nabundance of crop to harvest
\nEach day I spin the leaves into
\nfood for spring and summer.<\/p>\n
A certain amount of looking
\ninto the mouth of this gift horse
\nhas taught me that there is a price:
