Sun slopes low through
\nBoston ivy leaves festooning
\nthe window where I wait.
\nTraffic drones, chatty radio
\nsputters in the kitchen:
\nNorth Korea’s a-bomb is the
\nindignation of the nation.<\/p>\n
The blue berries on the ivy,
\nrelative of some grape
\nready themselves to be winter
\nlarder for shivering birds.<\/p>\n
I bring new stories to the
\npaintings here, every day,
\ndiscovering who I am each time.
\nTable lamps deliver globes of
\nwarmth and literacy
\nto their respective corners.<\/p>\n
In summer I look out at
\nthe river and far horizons;
\nthe rest of the year,
\nhorizons are pretty close by.
\nWinter’s weather wisdoms
\nare more reliant on
\nthe gods of electricity.
\nThe sun sinks lower every day:
