The sky is deep turquoise
\nthe river a cerulean mirror;
\nbetween, the islands present
\na tapestry of rich reds and
\ngolds, greens and ochres.<\/p>\n
The silence as I cut the motor
\nis palpable; the warmth tangible.
\nI paddle the last moments to shore,
\npropellor up, stirring liquid
\nthroated notes out of the river.<\/p>\n
My arrival is sacramental
\nI feel a reverence in the silence:
\naround me glows excitement
\nin the leaves and the soft ripples;
