Taking her time crossing the intersection
\nheading north up the street
\nas we waited to turn the corner; at first inspection
\nshe was pale grey elderly:
\nhair, eyes, face, coat, hands and expression
\nall grey all day.
\nIn my rear view mirror traffic piled up.
\nAll day she was taking to cross
\nHey, lady, speed it up! I thought
\nbut she stared ahead
\nlooking nowhere and everywhere:
\nan old hag with a doggie bag
\nwandering across my path.
\nI almost leaned on my horn
\nwhen she just about paused
\nright in front of us.
\nThen she was gone, we were gone;
\nshe had crossed, we had turned:
\nit was over.
\nWe arrived at the store
\nto do our shopping:
\nbread, mild, meat, fruit, coffee, juice;
\nwe headed home.<\/p>\n
At our driveway, there she was,
\nheading south with her greyness
\nand her doggie bag.
\nI waited this time:
\nshe was still looking nowhere
\nand everywhere<\/p>\n
taking all day the cross
\nour driveway.
\nThe traffic stopped
\nexisting
\nshe existed
\nwe existed
\nShe cleared the driveway
\nI drove in
\nlooked in the rear view mirror
\nlooked at nothing
