Everything, even under-leaves,
\nIs soaked; water taps softly
\nOn the cottage roof and sluices
\nLazily in runnels everywhere.
\nDock’s posts are mirrored
\nOn its liquid surface;
\nA puddle sits on the boat roof canvas.
\nSky and river are grey \u2014
\nIt’s early yet: tree bark is still dry.
\nThe river surface, rippling slightly
\nIn the almost nonexistent breeze,
\nIs pixellated by the insistent raindrops
\nWhich softly fade the distant river shores.
\nAnd not a leaf moves. Except
\nFor the drumming of the rain, no bird,
\nNo boat, no other sound at all.<\/p>\n
