When I consider poems I might write
\nand whether words I sing might last an age,
\nI hear the urgent pleadings in the night
\nof unused words denied the impatient page.<\/p>\n
There’s envy, lust and murder waiting there
\nand every sin that plays upon a stage;
\nso nothing good could force these words to prayer:
\nsuch evil would ignite the impatient page.<\/p>\n
Though wars and havoc vie for poet’s touch,
\nand lust produces fuel for readers’ rage,
\nI stall and fear to form or trust to luck
\nthe words that scream to fill the impatient page.<\/p>\n
And so I turn and toss my pen away,
