If a god were eating strawberries
\nWhen that sunset happened,
\nI know he’d stop in mid-bite
\nWith red sweet juice dribbling
\nDown his chin onto his toga
\nAnd just stare and do a god-thing:
\nMake it pause, slow down for
\nA week or two just to draw out
\nThe joy, the complex awe that
\nSomething other than himslef
\nCould be so satisfactory to a god.
\nAnd he would slowly allow
\nA tear to find its way down
\nInto the strawberry stain,
