By my reckoning,<br \/>\nI have been on this island five months,<br \/>\nand have not seen a living soul in<br \/>\nall the time. Were it not for the moon,<br \/>\nI would begin to wonder if I am indeed<br \/>\non planet Earth; for this place<!--more--> is strange<br \/>\nto me, as are the creatures in it.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><del datetime=\"2009-11-06T00:25:02+00:00\">This pen, my last, is running out of ink<\/del><\/span><br \/>\nMy health is good, and I am eternally hopeful<br \/>\nof rescue: on the beach, I have the makings<br \/>\nof a signal fire ready to ignite at any sign<br \/>\nof a ship or plane. So I may reach home before<br \/>\nyou receive this message in a bottle.<\/p>\n<p>Since I wrote the words above, we have had<br \/>\na storm that destroyed my lean-to and<br \/>\nwashed away all my food and firewood.<br \/>\nI have spent the past three weeks catching up,<br \/>\nand only recently had the time to find the pen<br \/>\nand this paper, which fortunately stayed dry.<br \/>\nI hope all is well with you; of my location,<br \/>\nI can say only that the island is about two<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here we have a message in a bottle, if it made it into the bottle.
