This far north the sun
\nrolls all day around the horizon
\nmarking North with a little dip
\nat midnight: sunset and sunrise
\nhide away like young lovers
\nwith little chance to meet.<\/p>\n
Inside, the tent is bright until
\njust before the lovers sneak away.
\nOutside, on the grassy, mossy
\nrocky rolling land, the wind
\ncannot sing, cannot sigh
\nexcept directly to the ear.<\/p>\n
The human being turns,
\nfollows the sun, marks the horizon
\nby sighting certain rocks,
\nnow knows the time.
\nFor one who does not live here
