early evening sun
\nsearches empty rooms
\nhearing voices of the departed
\nechoing like pebbles on a far drum<\/p>\n
they had to go
\nabandon endless skies
\nfor earth, fire, air, water
\nand sensibility posted on a brick wall<\/p>\n
but in my head
\nbare feet still drum the wood floors
\nscreen doors still slam
\nbefore and after sandwiches<\/p>\n
and milk that fuels such mischief
\nas giggles and sand in the rugs
\nafter afternoons on the beach
