Walking on the sidewalk
\nlately has made me feel like
\na tin duck in a shooting gallery:
\nwhen will the next sidewalk biker
\nbe awarded his giant stuffed panda
\nas I lie groaning on the pavement?<\/p>\n
Must I duckwalk like a prisoner
\nglancing neither to left nor right
\nlest such frivolity
\ncarry me into the trajectory
\nof a careless cyclist?<\/p>\n
Sidewalks are for walking
\nyet ringing the bell
\nbefore he overtakes me
\nseems never to occur to these
\nsilent interlopers
\nwho should be on the road.<\/p>\n
Oh for the good old days
\nwhen kids clothespinned cardboard
\nto clack on the spokes
\nor actually stayed in traffic
\ntaking their own chances
