The process started in a dream, in which I tried to do just that.<br \/>\nI hope there are enough clues in the almost-haiku to make it intelligible:<a><\/a><\/p>\n<p>the title has a bilingual quality, with the second word <i>en fran\u00e7ais \u2014 <\/i>the fact that the word in the title is uncapitalized is a clue;<i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;LOL&#8221;, of course, means &#8220;laughing out loud&#8221;;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;H8&#8243; means &#8220;hate&#8221;;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;L&#8217;0&#8243; is the part <i>en fran\u00e7ais \u2014 <\/i>the second symbol in it is zero, which in French<i> <\/i>(tennis particularly) is &#8220;l&#8217;oeuf&#8221;, (the egg) or &#8220;love&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>So:<\/p>\n<p><i>Laughing out loud above,<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>What the world needs now<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Is not hate but love.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 too obscure?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My intent yesterday, in writing this little poem \u2014 which appears in yesterday&#8217;s entry below \u2014 was to create a new symbol for &#8220;love&#8221;, in contrast to H8, which is pretty easily clear.
