I was intending to read this at Connectionz Open Mike last night, but the event was moved to this coming Friday, so I guess it won’t work next Friday\u2014or what the hay: maybe I will read it. Anyway, at some point the podcast will appear.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Do any of you speak Latin? Pig Latin?
\nWell, here goes; the poem is called<\/p>\n

Appyhay Irthdaybay<\/p>\n

(\u2013that\u2019s (pig) Latin, for those of you born after the fifties\u2013
\nanyway, here\u2019s the poem:)<\/p>\n

Tomorrow\u2019s my irthdaybay.
\nI\u2019ll be twenty-two point two-two
\nin Celsius
\nactually, for the math students in the crowd
\nthat\u2019s twenty-two point two-two repeated
\nad infinitum
\nThat\u2019s a real Latin phrase;
\nit means \u201cforever\u201d:
\nI like that part.
\nAt my age, I like any part.
\nThose of you in the Viagra generation
\nwill be pleased to know that
\neven at the exalted age of twenty-two
\npoint two-two ad infinitum
\nwe still like looking\u2013
\nat any part we can get into focus.
\nIn my case something larger than a cantaloupe
\nbut smaller than Ontario.
\nMy wife doesn\u2019t like cantaloupe
\nespecially what I\u2019m implying about cantaloupes
\nand she especially hates that I\u2019m mentioning her
\nright now. Is she glaring at me? Is she cringing?
\nI can feel the Curse of the Cat People
\nburning into my forehead.
\nThat\u2019s one of the senses that develops
\nafter you\u2019ve been married for
\noh, thirty years\u2013that\u2019s Fahrenheit years by the way
\nand right now, it\u2019s accurate because
\nI can feel the below zero stare from here, Dear.
\nAnyway, appyhay irthdaybay otay emay.
