{"id":105,"date":"2006-04-09T17:00:59","date_gmt":"2006-04-09T22:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/riverwriter.ca\/wordcurrents\/2006\/04\/09\/34\/"},"modified":"2006-04-10T21:27:05","modified_gmt":"2006-04-11T02:27:05","slug":"34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riverwriter.ca\/wordcurrents\/2006\/04\/09\/34\/","title":{"rendered":"34"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Head out of the parking lot<br \/>\nsitting on cold upholstered leather<br \/>\ndown and up hill through<br \/>\nthe almost empty streets<br \/>\nout to open country<!--more--><br \/>\nthe mostly straight road<br \/>\na quarter hour or so<br \/>\nall the way down to the<br \/>\nflatlands near the river<\/p>\n<p>Great place for thinking<br \/>\nno radio, no music<br \/>\njust time to muse<br \/>\ntime for lucid driving<br \/>\nlucidity driven by piercing<br \/>\nsoft diamond stars above<br \/>\nthrough the moon roof\u2122<br \/>\nmet by pairs of bright ogre eyes<br \/>\nor billygoats gruff \u2014 either way<br \/>\nfanciful, saucerful, amusing.<\/p>\n<p>Spreading out:<br \/>\nbranches on the invisible trees<br \/>\nby the side of the roads we travel<\/p>\n<p>Coming together:<br \/>\nseeds putting down roots to grow<br \/>\nand live and so we did<br \/>\nbrought our acts to the stage<br \/>\nenergized cold white pages<br \/>\nand with flesh in costumes<br \/>\nmakeup bathed in light<br \/>\nlarger than life we lived.<\/p>\n<p>So brief the moment<br \/>\nso soft the stars shining<br \/>\non the stage voices lifted<br \/>\nin the sky on the way<br \/>\nhome.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Note: 34 is a local county road<\/em> <em>that runs south through Alexandria to the St. Lawrence River.
