A day like this in early April
\nloves a tumble a pratfall
\nA spit take accompanied by
\na zoomflute a rimshot a kazoo<\/p>\n
Maybe that’s why practical jokers
\nLove April 1; it’s the silly season:
\nPut ’em to bed with a zephyr
\nWake ’em up with a blizzard.
\nMake ’em roll up their sleeves and
\nstart the garden then roll it over
\nunder an ice storm
\n\u2014 show ’em who’s boss.<\/p>\n
For instance: it’s dark outside.
\nNow, I can light a bunch of
\ncandles, turn on klieg lights
\nstrobe lights roman candles;
\nI can stand there holding up a match
\n‘Till my yikkin’ fingers singe
\nbut it’ll still be dark up in the sky
\nup there where it matters.<\/p>\n
I don’t even know why it matters
\nBut down here in Wistful Vista
\nWhere our closets are piled and
\nReady to avalanche on our heads
\nAt the least provocation,
\nInnocent though it may be,
\nWe don’t really get the joke
\nAnd you can’t explain it:
