Sun cartoons trees
with yellow ink
dapples snow with
soft blue dimples
sharp pastel shadows

Cold snaps footsteps
snow squeaks
dissonant underfoot
shovel chisels obdurate
frozen glaciers

Black squirrel
chitters solo on the
only swaying twig

From my nest
