The snow that fell all day
starting the morning after
I mowed the plucky spring grass–
that snow made me ask
whether the weather was nuts.

Or were we, who thought spring
and the lovely splash of blue florets
that sprang up everywhere
(the first blooms are always blue)
was reason for short sleeves and bare skin
and lovely girls in blossom everywhere?

If they were blooming today,
they were blue indeed. Weather.
