passenger

Although I usually drive the car
because my wife would prefer
to cringe, inhale sharply,
and practice virtual braking—
all the while protesting
that I am an excellent driver,

In the rest of my life
I stomp on virtual brakes
clench my teeth in frustration
mutter under my breath
about the choice of route
and the quality of the driving
by the jackass politicians
who are always about to crash.
