He’s in there coughing
again

He knows that’s what she’s thinking
again

Another cough
hammers an electric spike
through the head bone
connected to the
ankle bone
again

Soggy tissues mount in the open bag
beside the table of corrective medications
magazines
papers
crumbed plates
cups and cutlery
TV schedules
again

Slump
cough
she hears him in the other room
again
