thoughts below ground 5

the aether is warming again
O Best Beloved
with tales of our cousin
the fire snake
who in his unending ecstasy
tightly wraps his coils
three and a half times
around the base
of the eternal tree
and offers the apples
of the tree to the unwary

it is whispered
among my brothers
that the fire snake
deep in the aether
has dreams of such joy
that he is shifting his grip
among the roots of the tree
and the tree is responding
joyfully again with precious
golden sap

and thus is born
religion O Best Beloved
