echoes

Concrete concourse cascades voices
like cards shuffled in a casino
children chaotic in a gymnasium
tourists gawking in a cathedral
families chattering in a cave after the kill

on a meadow groups hush in immensity
sound swept away by high blue skies
subsumed by the heat of grasshoppers and birds
