cave door

spring sits out there just over the horizon
fussing about making a grand entrance
of that I am sure and so is the cashier
who handles $89.64 worth of impulse buys
while discussing the weather as if my
pathetic shopping addiction is just
another bottle of booze on life’s
conveyor belt I know it’s counterproductive
this urge to acquire things when
clouds hang over my shoulders and
I should cheer up and go out and fly a kite because
spring is supposed to be on the way after
this snow-sogged winter we’ve just slogged through but
I worry that all this history of technological
excellence that Da Vinci could only dream about
does not really separate me securely
from the wolves waiting over the horizon
and that some day I will be foraging
alongside them not far from the cave door

  1. If I only joined Facebook to read your poetry, it would be worth the tedium of the useless chatter that seems to be the prevalent form of communication. I loved “Cave Door”

Thank you, Dorothy. I wonder that you found it amongst this maze I call my blog.

The great thing about this place for me is that I can just let my brain go, and publish what I want.

I seem to have written more than a few poems about my experiences at checkouts.
