old Circe

I wish she could go out in dignity
maybe she will
the new kitten is leaping
onto her dignity with hugs
that drive her nuts and
make her hiss growl and run
no way for an old cat
to spend her days
harassed exhausted
generally pissed

she’s purring now
as the kitten sleeps
kind of like
an old guy enduring
his trophy wife’s
new offspring
except she didn’t ask for this
she’s a been there done that
cat.
