the picture is almost sepia
team colours neutered
by dressingroom lights

his face grizzled
sagging like old skin
weary beyond years

sweat reeks sepia
like rusted fenders
in a wet junk yard

bandage pride
under the inevitability
of a Lamborghini

the gods decree
one team wins
all others lose
