horizontal

so much of peace is horizontal
sleep
these quiet lines
and those
of sleep glide out with breath
that takes us into the horizontals of dreams

shelves and drawers are horizontal
the glide of drawers
the placement of still objects in them
knives, forks, spoons, candles
clothes, plates
all horizontal

horizons are horizontal
the place where wishes live
and all those dead who left us
they are horizontal too
placed in a put of rest
we put them placed them there
dug down vertically to the horizontal resting place

horizontal is a line
clarified by a pencil a line a laser
a line divides
divides life from death
the vertical active living
from the silent, still, dead
so much of peace is horizontal
sleep
these quiet lines
and those
of sleep glide out with breath
that takes us into the horizontals of dreams
