Dinner for nine IV

As I savored the tender
delicately spiced chicken
in steamed rice onion gentle ginger
the serving girl softly refilled
my water glass
and generous friendly words
combined around the table
cheffed by our hearts
chosen from the impromtu
menu of delight and
earnest contemplation.

What had begun
as a comedy of errors
false starts and arguments
had aligned with the stars
in the Indian restaurent
and mother father daughter
husband niece sister husband
fiance son had all joined
blended in harmony
new yet ancient
comic delightful.
